Artists Are Scientists

A solo exhibition of 30 sculptural rings

The Miriam Webster Dictionary defines art as skill acquired through experiences, study and observation. Pair those qualities with methods of systematized knowledge and you have stepped into the realms of science.

With infinite fields of specialty, ever-changing environmental factors, advances in tools and techniques, and countless questions to answer, both art and science will continue to evolve until our existence ceases.

Pondering deep questions, studying surroundings, embracing mentors, experimenting, failing until we succeed and sharing our work is essential to both art and science. The final product is only a small part of the scientific process of art. It all starts with an intrinsic question. I want to know, where does curiosity come from? What is YOUR question?

Jewelry Can Tell a Story

Art and science both start with a question and this exhibit intends to ask many. One of which is essential to my philosophy of the fabrication process, “What if, while not being worn, jewelry had a place to be, a purpose?”

The jewelry pieces we choose to buy and wear are talismans, totems and expressions of who we are. They are our personalities on display and freedom to express ourselves. That is why each ring is paired with a handmade custom display that allows it to become more than personal adornment. It can evolve into a conversation piece and visual story about our curiosity.
